A zero-impact organic farmstay in Tuscany where heritage meets modern eco-living.

Podere Montisi is a 16th-century Tuscan farmhouse reborn as an organic agriturismo that is proud to be a “zero impact” farm. Powered by a biomass boiler (using farm wood and pellets) and solar panels for electricity, the property even achieved the top Energy Performance rating for its eco-conscious renovations.

The Frosini family preserved original features – from the old wood-fired bread oven still in use to repurposing the former cow manger into a cozy lounge – while using natural materials like Tuscan terracotta, organic lime plaster and locally quarried stone in the restoration.

Surrounded by 6 ha of ancient grain fields and olive groves (plus 6 ha of protected forest), the farm practices biodynamic agriculture with zero chemicals. Guests are invited to share in the Tuscan organic lifestyle: enjoying fresh bread and pastas from heritage grains, tasting olive oil pressed on-site, and even joining workshops on pasta-making or herbal crafts.

A biomass-heated infinity pool overlooks Monte Morello, and hiking trails lead through the farm’s chestnut woods. Every meal at Podere Montisi is farm-to-table – seasonal produce, farm eggs, and organic wine – embodying the agriturismo’s mission to “live at nature’s pace.” In this tranquil corner near Florence, sustainability isn’t just a practice, it’s a way of life – from composting all organic waste to drawing pure drinking water from a mountain artesian well – offering guests an authentic and regenerative Tuscan retreat.
