Loire Valley Lodges is a unique forest hideaway offering 18 designer treehouse suites set within 300 hectares of private woodland. Conceived by former art dealer Anne-Caroline Frey, this retreat celebrates the healing power of nature (sylvotherapy) and creativity in equal measure. Each lodge is perched high among chestnut and Douglas fir trees, built on stilts to avoid disturbing root systems and carefully integrated into the forest canopy. They’re constructed from locally sourced wood and have living green roofs or facades, effectively camouflaging them in the foliage. In line with the project’s deep eco-conscious ethos, the lodges are deliberately Wi-Fi and TV free – a “digital diet” intended to help guests disconnect and attune to the rhythms of the woods. (Should you need to connect, Wi-Fi is available only at the main reception pavilion – nowhere near the treehouses.) Inside your lodge, you’ll find bohemian-chic décor with natural linens, organic toiletries, and a record player with a curated music playlist (each lodge has its own theme and custom soundtrack!). Floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive decks put you face-to-face with rustling leaves and birds; many lodges even feature a private jacuzzi on the terrace, offering surreal soaks under the stars with owls hooting in the distance. The experience is indulgent yet low-impact. There are no cars in this forest – guests explore via foot or complimentary bicycles on gentle trails. Morning breakfast arrives as a sumptuous picnic basket hoisted up by rope pulley to your deck, brimming with local goodies like fresh croissants, seasonal fruits, artisan cheese, and honey from the property’s hives. For dining, the main lodge’s restaurant, Ardent, serves gourmet farm-to-table cuisine: much of it sourced from the hotel’s own organic garden and local farms, paired with Loire Valley wines. The estate also hosts renowned chefs in-residence for special open-air culinary events, adding to its allure for foodies. Art is everywhere – monumental sculptures are hidden along forest paths and each treehouse features original contemporary artworks commissioned for that space. Though adult-oriented and peacefully child-free by design, the atmosphere is playful and sensual. Guests can indulge in spa and wellness offerings like outdoor massages on their deck, yoga in a forest clearing, or a dip in the 20m pool by the main lodge. At night, with no light pollution, the Milky Way sparkles above, and you fall asleep to the lullaby of the woods.
