Heredad Beragu is a secluded eco-boutique hotel in Gallipienzo, Navarra, an ancient mountaintop village overlooking the Pyrenees and the Aragón River valley. Set within a cluster of restored 18th-century stone farmhouses, this adults-only retreat (just 9 rooms) blends rustic farmhouse charm with contemporary sustainable design. Here, guests awaken to birdsong, watch the sunrise over vineyards and hills, and reconnect with nature in an environment of profound peace.
The creation of Heredad Beragu is itself a story of sustainability and community revival. Founders Patxi and Ramón envisioned a project that would preserve the heritage of Gallipienzo Antiguo while revitalizing its dwindling community. During renovation, 90% of the original materials were recycled: thick stone walls were repointed and insulated, old beams and tiles were repurposed, and local artisans were employed to keep the soul of the casonas alive.
Today, the hotel is a certified sustainable building. It uses biomass heating, solar energy for hot water, energy-saving appliances, and low-consumption lighting, with water conservation and recycling embedded into daily operations. An organic garden and chicken coop provide fresh vegetables and eggs for the kitchen, reinforcing the philosophy of self-sufficiency and eco-living.
Known as a “gastronomic hotel”, Heredad Beragu offers authentic Navarre cuisine rooted in seasonal, local ingredients. Breakfast includes rustic breads, local cheeses, and eggs from the on-site coop, while dinners highlight regional specialties such as Navarra asparagus with Roncal cheese or steaks from free-range cattle of the surrounding hills.
Menus proudly follow a “kilometer zero” dining philosophy, sourcing from nearby farms and the hotel’s organic garden. Local wines and artisanal beers complete the experience. Recognized as a Reyno Gourmet ambassador, the hotel showcases products from multiple Protected Designations of Origin, ensuring every dish reflects Navarra’s culinary heritage and sustainable values.
Heredad Beragu immerses guests in both land and culture. Guided hikes, birdwatching from the hotel’s observatory, and visits to organic wineries are easily arranged by the hosts. The location offers access to remarkable natural and cultural sites, from the dramatic Bardenas Reales Desert Biosphere Reserve to the lush foothills of the Pyrenees.
After a day of exploration, guests often gather on the terrace or by the fireplace, enjoying Gallipienzo’s silence, starlit skies, and an atmosphere of timeless serenity. As an adults-only retreat, the ambiance is intimate, romantic, and ideal for couples seeking a soulful escape.
Beyond its environmental practices, Heredad Beragu is dedicated to the sustainability of the rural environment. The hotel employs villagers, supports cultural initiatives, and draws thoughtful tourism to this lesser-known corner of Navarra. Its mission is to show that heritage preservation, sustainable living, and rural luxury can coexist in harmony.
With plush beds, panoramic views, rain showers, and heartfelt hospitality, Heredad Beragu offers guests both comfort and inspiration. More than just a hotel, it is a living project that demonstrates how eco-responsibility and cultural preservation can enrich travel. Guests leave refreshed, connected to nature, and touched by the spirit of “the town of dreams” that is Gallipienzo.
